Russell Drake is a Christian Man, Community Advocate, Engineering Professional, Proud Dad, Obedient Son, Affirming Brother, Faithful Friend and Lover of Life. He was born and raised by two loving parents in Gary, Indiana, and attended Howard University (Washington, DC), with a focus in systems & computer science. Upon finishing school, he moved to Orlando, Florida where he's worked as a Systems Engineer at two Fortune 500 Corporations over the last 18 years. As a co-profession, Russell is a public speaker, civic strategist, and network builder; with his own brand and website of TheRussellDrake.com.

Mr. Drake is the duly elected State First Vice President of the Democratic Black Caucus of Florida, and immediate past President of the Orange County Black Caucus. Through President Drake’s leadership he has helped revive the Black Caucus locally, bolstering a diverse membership of varying ages, religious beliefs, professions and ethnicities. Setting a theme of “Let’s Build: Economically, Politically, Socially and Educationally” the Caucus has been instrumental in reaching, teaching, advocating and empowering the community for betterment and upward mobility. At the State Level, Vice President Drake has pushed initiatives and energy from Orange County outward, making a way for Central Florida talent to gain exposure and shine across the Great state of Florida!!

With a mantra of “I Will Not Stop,” Mr. Drake has a passion for uplifting the community; involved  in mentoring, feeding & clothing the homeless, advocating for equity & unalienable rights, and linking people to foster better relations! In his own words “In order to Reach the Community, you must be IN the Community”.  Russell is a part of the African American Chamber of Commerce, Central Florida Urban League, Howard University Alumni Association (HUAA), Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Incorporated (State Civic & Community Affairs Chair), NAACP, National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE), National Association of Black Journalists (NABJ) and Orange County Democratic Executive Committee (DEC).


Mr. Drake's active nature has earned him appointments to the Orange County Charter Review Commission (CRC), Orange County Dr. Martin Luther King Initiative, City of Orlando Black History Month Testimonials, African Advisory Board of WESH 2 News Orlando, Boys Scouts of America Whitney M. Young Council Planning Committee. In Jan 2020, Russell was honored with Orlando's Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Drum Major Award for Social Justice.

In spiritual life, Mr. Drake is a devoted member of St. Mark AME Church where he serves on the Trustee Board as Vice Chair, Usher Board, Praise & Dance Team and Men's Choir. He was blessed to deliver sermons  in November of 2014 and 2019.  He is also proven to be a gifted writer of poetry & prose, eloquent speaker and respected voice to all audiences.  With a basis in service, he practices the concept of servant leadership in walk, talk and deed. For the Bible says, "To whom much is Given, Much Is Required".

Last but not least, Mr. Drake regards family to be first. He is one of eight children, the Father of a Beautiful Thirteen (13) year old daughter, an Uncle to a host of nieces & nephews and a God Father to two children.
